The Brief
Fastwork is a leading freelance marketplace with over 150,000 users. As usage grew across desktop, mobile web, and mobile apps, we initiated a full platform redesign to deliver a better experience for both clients and freelancers. I led the redesign efforts across all platforms — desktop website, mobile site, and mobile apps — with the goal of making Fastwork more intuitive, trustworthy, and scalable.
The Challenge
Users had different levels of familiarity with the platform, yet the experience was one-size-fits-all. The mobile experience was under-optimized, especially for new users arriving from SEO.
The mobile app’s outdated structure and limited technology stack required a full rebuild. Each platform needed to serve unique user behaviors while still feeling unified under the Fastwork brand.
Desktop Website
I redesigned the homepage based on user behavior analysis and industry research, then split it into two tailored versions: a guest view for new users with platform introductions and social proof, and a member view that offered personalized freelancer recommendations.
I also introduced two new search flows — one guided by user input and another via a request form — to help clients find the right freelancer more efficiently. To boost conversion from SEO traffic, I revamped the freelancer listing page with visual filters for faster, more relevant results.
MOBILE
Website
I created a mobile-optimized version of fastwork.co focused on helping clients quickly search and hire freelancers on-the-go. The design prioritized simplicity and speed, while heavier interactions like chat, payment, and job management were handed off to the mobile app to maintain a smoother mobile experience.
iOS & ANDROID APPLICATIONs
I led the complete rebuild of the mobile app, starting from iOS, with a new structure and experience. For clients, the app made it easy to search, contact, and pay freelancers. For freelancers, the app served as a tool for staying connected — managing chats, quotes, and submissions — while desktop remained their main workspace. I kept visual consistency with the website while optimizing layouts and flows for native mobile use.
